Deer and Doe Sirocco Jumpsuit

This jumpsuit is so bright and colourful, just looking at it makes me happy. The pattern offers a long and short version and is made for knit fabrics. I used cotton jersey fabric from Die Stoffschwester. This fabric is so amazing, not just the design but also it's scented! I have never heard of scented fabric before, but apparently it's a thing. It smells like oranges even after having washed the fabric.

At first I did not get along with this pattern at all. I never usually have problems understanding the instructions, but with this one I found it so hard! I don't really know why, but I did have to use my seam ripper a few times more. I think the pictures were just really unclear to me, so I did a few steps wrong. In the end it all turned out fine and I'm quite happy - only thing I would do differently is the sizing.

Sizing

I didn't really measure or use the size chart - I'm usually too lazy and go for my standard size. So I made a size 34 top and graded to a 36 bottoms.

  • What I did: I cut the bodice parts and the waistband in a size 34 and graded the bottom parts to a 36

  • What I should have done: cut the bottom parts and waistband a 36 and graded the top part to a 34 ;-)

This jumpsuit does not have any fastenings. You just pull it on and off. This means, the waistband has to stretch all the way around your hips. My waistband is a little tight when I pull it over my hips, so I should have cut the bigger size waistband.

At least now I know for next time ;-)
